About Life Routes
The Challenge
Every Child Matter sets out Government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of children and young people. Through the Children Act (2004) and the ECM framework, every child, whatever their background or their circumstances is entitled to the support they need to:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
Life Routes has been designed to enshrine this aim and to assist the successful delivery of these outcomes for young people.
The Programme
Life Routes builds young people’s self-confidence and awareness of their own potential through project and team based learning to develop the life skills necessary for their personal, emotional and social development; such as decision-making, problem solving, assessing risk, communication, teamwork and responsibility. This enables them to understand their potential roles and impact in the wider community.
Life Routes embraces the experiential learning process, the model of resilience and the Every Child Matters agenda within an ASDAN accredited framework against the wider skills; improving own learning, working with others and problem solving.
Regional Coordinators support local practitioners in developing creative and engaging projects for young people aimed at developing the skills for emotional health and well-being.
